ARTIST

SAMIR TAMARI

Samir Tamari is a Lebanese artist born in 1958 in Beirut. He discovered his passion for drawing and painting at a young age and later pursued studies in Art and Advertising Techniques in Montreal, Canada. His work blends figurative and abstract elements, always carrying a deeper message for the viewer to uncover. In his unique fusion of abstraction and figuration, Tamari incorporates elements of pop culture to convey his messages. Iconic characters, such as Betty Boop reimagined as a femme fatale or a beach icon, are subtly woven into his abstract compositions. These references enrich the canvas without compromising the vibrancy of his color palette. He works primarily with acrylic on canvas, sometimes adding iridescent layers to enhance depth and luminosity. His mastery of color theory allows him to create stunning compositions that captivate and invite contemplation. Known for its sincerity and freshness, his style conveys real-life themes and analogies. His most recent exhibition took place in Beirut in June 2017. For Tamari, painting is a form of self-expression—his art serves as a soothing balm over thought-provoking subjects.
