MARIO MATERA

Mario Matera, an influential and mysterious figure in the Italian art scene, was born into the vibrant atmosphere of Andria during Italy's 1968 revolution. Maintaining his roots in his birthplace, Matera has continued to cultivate his creative talents there. His artistic journey began at the young age of 13, starting with painting and quickly gaining both national and international acclaim. His artwork has been showcased in prestigious venues across Venice, Berlin, Moscow, and Bangalore. By the tender age of 17, Matera had explored various artistic disciplines, evolving from an adept illustrator to a cartoonist, and later, a graphic designer. In addition to his own creative endeavors, Matera shares his knowledge by teaching visual communication at a specialized advertising graphics high school. Simultaneously, Matera ventured into the cinematic world, overseeing the visual aspects of commercials, short films, and feature-length movies. In 1990, he established the MARIO MATERA GROUP, a creative collective where he assumes the roles of creative director and photographer. After years of directing fashion photoshoots, Matera underwent a personal transformation, shifting his focus from directing to actively engaging in photography.
