ARTIST

MARIE ANGE DAUDE

Visual artist, born in 1964 in Limoges, MAD has been roaming Gironde with her tall ex-triathlete silhouette. Her path is unconventional, which makes it rich. After studying planning and urbanism to "beautify the world," MAD worked for about twenty years in real estate development. She encountered numerous architect-artists. What interested her was the "process of creation." In 2008, she began her creative work. With an ecological fiber, she started working with waste, an inexhaustible source of materials. This was the period of glass, cans, various boxes. In 2012 and 2013, she created a series of 68 hearts, using a different technique for each, a kind of romantic and artistic ballad. The "Timeless" portrait series (since 2014) aims to bring old photos back to life by applying a contemporary technique. The characters are often melancholic and express nostalgia for an era. One series is made with staples, a rarely used material, and another with stretched threads, on which she glues various materials (tracing paper, tissue paper, or feathers) to create portraits where the light plays with the relief of the materials and creates an almost magical depth to the characters.
