René Alvarez Mäkelä is a Spanish artist who lives and works in Palma de Mallorca, in the Santa Catalina district where his workshop is located. His creative universe revolves around pop icons and he draws his inspiration from fashion, the street, books, movies, television or the musical universe to create his works and make them unique pieces mixing pop art and street art. He paints on large-format canvases using oil paint and acrylic and plays with textures to maximize the impact of his canvases. His successful series depicting pop icons was acclaimed by critics and the public, and was particularly pleased because of the fluorescent tones of his portraits. His work has been exhibited in galleries in Los Angeles, Palma de Mallorca, Ibiza, Madrid and Barcelona. His collectors are NBA and NFL players, Pope Francis, Manny Machado and Madonna.
